How to Install your Neon Sign Using Standard Nails

Now that you have your neon sign on hand, now it’s time to place your neon sign on the wall. It’s quick and easy! You’ll be done in just minutes. So get ready to light up your room with neon lights!

Using standard nails is the most basic way to install your neon on your wall. Once you receive your sign, you automatically have installation accessories and instructions for you to follow in the box.

Things to Prepare

Ready your installation accessories such as the screws, washers, and drywall anchors. Grab your handy-dandy toolbox and get a small hammer and screwdriver. Make sure to also get your driller ready with a ¼” (6mm) drill bit. If you don’t have a driller, time to call a friend or say hi to your neighbor. Once you have these items in a convenient area, clean the surface then grab a pencil. Now it’s time to get ready for action!

5-Step Standard Nails Installation

Step 1

Place your sign on the desired area on your wall. Using a pencil. Mark the holes from your sign to determine the screw hole locations. Once done, place your sign back in a safe place for the next step.

Step 2

Now that you are done marking the holes, make sure that your driller is ready with a ¼” (6mm) drill bit. Simply drill the marked areas and now it’s time for the next step

Step 3

Once you have your holes ready, take the drywall anchors and tap them in the wall using a hammer.

Step 4

We’re almost done! Go get your sign and it’s time to screw the nails! Now simply align your sign, put the washer on top of the nails, and screw them into the drywall anchors.

Step 5

Finally, the last step and the most exciting part of all! It’s time to put the wires together and plug in the sign to your power adapter and voila!

What You’ll Need

Make sure to prepare the things you’ll need before installing your neon sign. Get your handy-dandy toolbox and bring out the stuff you’ll be needing to properly install your sign.

●   Advertising nails set (barrel and cap)

●   Screws

●   Drywall anchors

●   Hammer

●   Screwdriver

●   Driller with a ¼” (6mm) drill bit

6 Steps in Installing with Advertising Nails

Just follow these 6 simple steps and you can have your sign look professional in no time!

Step 1

Finalize where you want to install your neon sign and put your sign against it. Using a pencil, determine the screw hole locations and mark them on the installation surface. 

Step 2

Remove the sign on the wall and drill holes on marked locations with a 1/4” (6mm) drill bit.

Step 3 

Now grab your drywall anchor tap it in the holes using your hammer.

Step 4

Next, install the barrel on the wall with screws through the barrel into the drywall anchors.

Step 5

Finally, put the sign on and thread the studs to the barrels. Your sign should have a 1” gap from the installation surface. 

Step 6

You now just have to put the wires together and plug it in. Watch your sign light up and wow the people in your office or your store!

How to Hang a Big Neon Sign

Once you have your design customized and have your neon sign on hand, now it’s time to get it installed. Here is a step-by-step guide for you to follow through.

Here’s a step-by-step video guide on how to hang your ceiling-mounted hanging sign for a big neon like this.

Get These Stuff Ready

Before you start installing your sign, get the ceiling-mounted wire suspension kit ready. This includes the top mounts, screws, 6.6ft (2m) long suspension wires, and cable seal. Apart from these, grab your own sharp plier, drill with a 1/4” (6mm) drill bit, hammer, screwdriver, and a pencil to mark your ceiling. Once you have all these ready, you can now start hanging your big neon sign.

●  Ceiling mounted wire suspension kit: top mounts (1.5” diameter), screws, 6.6ft (2m) long suspension wires, cable seal

●  Drill with a 1/4” (6mm) drill bit

●  Screwdriver

●  Sharp plier

●  Hammer

●  Pencil

8 Steps in Installing Your Big Hanging Sign

Step 1

Pull the suspension wire through the cable seal and then through the suspension holes on the sign. Do the same to the other end.

Step 2

Once again, pull the wire end through the cable seal and use a sharp plier to seal it. Repeat this step to the other cable wire. Make sure all hanging wires are attached to the sign.

Step 3

Using a pencil grab the tops mounts and determine screw hole locations for the top mounts. Once done, set the top mounts aside.

Step 4

Grab your drill and make sure that you are using a 1/4” (6mm) drill bit. Finally, drill holes on all marked locations.

Step 5

Once you have all holes ready, tap the drywall anchors in each hole with a hammer. 

Step 6

Get the top mounts and align them on the holes. Then, you can screw nails into the drywall anchors using a screwdriver.

Step 7

We’re almost done. Push the pin on the top mount and insert the hanging wire. Release the pin to tighten the wire.

Step 8

Now for the exciting part. You can now fix the wiring on the ceiling or wall. Plugin the power adapter and light up the sign. Bravo!
